Charles “Charlie” Smith

Charles “Charlie” Smith, age 89 of Logan, Indiana passed away Friday, December 22, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born May 18, 1934, in Blue Hole, Clay County, Kentucky the son of James F. “Jimmy” and Rellia Gibson Smith.

Charlie married Elnora “Jeanie” Grubbs July 3, 1953, at Macedonia Christian Church in Okeana, Ohio. Member of the Bright Christian Church for many years serving as a deacon. Charlie also served his country in the United States Army.

Survived by his loving wife of 70 years Jeanie Smith. Father of Daniel Robert (Gina) Smith. Grandfather of David Charles (Charlotte) Smith II, Ryanne Michelle (Brian) Sculthorpe, and Caitlin Jewell Smith. Brother of Anna Lee Gullette, Carl Hollin, and Lowell Thomas (Donna Kay) Hollin.

Charlie is preceded in death by his parents James “Jimmy” and Rellia Smith Hollin, son David Charles Smith, granddaughter Nicole Danielle Smith, and siblings Beverley Sue Schreiner, McKinley Hollin, and Elmer Hollin.

Visitation will be held Thursday, December 28, 2023, from 10:00 A.M. until time of funeral services at 12:00 P.M. with pastor Greg Edens and Mark Fugate officiating all at the Bright Christian Church 24457 Stateline Road Lawrenceburg, Indiana 47025. A burial will follow at Gibson Cemetery Bright, Indiana with military honors provided by the Harrison Funeral Detail.
