Do we know the assignment?

by By Tim Parks-Manchester Tourism Director

Hello friends! Lord, have we had some weather? I know some of you love it, and some hate it. No matter what you think of it, you must accept it.
Today, as I was traveling to Knox County for a meeting, I had our town on my mind. I was thinking about all the people in the past who could have made a difference or done a great job at numerous things that were never given a chance.
Heck, some people moved from here, made themselves millionaires, and were successful just because they got an opportunity.
What holds people back sometimes, not just in this town but also in others? Politics, family, familiarity, economic status? I’m thinking all of the above. Sometimes, so many rules and regulations have been put in front of someone that they can’t succeed. People need space and freedom to do good work.
If you’re always looking over someone’s shoulder, you can expect them to fail.
Our assignment is simple. Let all of our people have a little piece of the pie. It’s plenty big enough for everyone to eat. You will not agree with how everyone thinks, speaks, or their belief system, but who cares? Let them work and make a difference. Let’s not discourage or hold those back that can be valuable. If you're afraid of them, then work at a distance.
We have lots of people that could change everything for the better. Don’t hinder them. Much love, Manchester!!
