Weekend storm cause outages across state
January 07, 2025
Winter Storm Blair brought snow, sleet, rain and ice across Kentucky beginning early Sunday morning. Layers of ice and wet snow covered roads and highways, tree limbs and power lines – resulting in more than 5,200 Jackson Energy members being without service as of 9:30 a.m. on Monday morning. The cooperative’s reaction time was swift, as by mid-afternoon on the same day, Jackson Energy had mutual aid and contractor crews from Kentucky and Tennessee working alongside them to restore power. In total, close to 150 field personnel were working for Jackson Energy’s members, including the following:
Kentucky:
Davis H. Elliot Company
W.A. Kendall & Company
Phillips Tree Experts
PraXel Line Services
Tennessee:
Holston Electric Cooperative
Powell Valley Electric Cooperative
Even though these crews worked long hours in brutal temperatures – they shared Jackson Energy’s mission to restore power as quickly and safely as possible. As of Tuesday morning, crews were working to restore service to the remaining 800 Jackson Energy members.
Jackson Energy is grateful to their membership for their encouragement, prayers and patience during the co-op’s restoration efforts.
“At Jackson Energy, the safety of our members and employees is our number one priority. We appreciate all our crews for working safely, yet diligently, to restore service to our members,” said Carol Wright, President and CEO.
If you are experiencing a new power outage, members are encouraged to call the automated phone system at 800262-7480 or report the outage through the SmartHub app.
A healthy Clay County requires great community news.
