Smith charged in shooting

Laurel Sheriff's Detective Tommy Houston is investigating a reported shooting which occurred off Wren Road , approximately 4 miles south of London on Sunday afternoon January 5th, 2025 at approximately 1:08 PM. Sheriff's investigators were dispatched by London – Laurel County 911 Communication Ctr. to a complaint that a male subject had been shot there. When investigators arrived at the scene, they found a male subject had been shot by a shotgun that pelleted his chest and face. This individual was taken to CHI St. Joseph Health hospital London  for treatment of a serious, non life threatening  injury. Investigators learned that allegedly 2 males outside a residence off Wren Road were involved in an argument over property when one male left, retrieved a weapon, and returned shooting the other male,who was  age 34 of London.   Arrested was: James Smith  age 56 of London charged with Assault 1st degree and lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
