Deputy hears screams inside home
Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Deputy Austyn Weddle along with Deputy Nate Bishop and Maj. Robbie Grimes arrested two individuals on Monday afternoon February 12, 2024 at approximately 3:34 PM. The arrests occurred off County Farm Road, approximately 2 miles north west of London after deputies were dispatched to conduct a welfare check there. Upon arrival at the scene Deputy Weddle noted knocking on the doorway of the residence but receiving no contact from individuals inside the residence although he could hear screaming inside. A male subject came to the door and became disorderly with Deputy Weddle and attempted to flee back into the residence and following a brief struggle with Deputy Weddle, the male subject was taken into custody. A female subject at the residence who was outside the residence began creating a disturbance there yelling and cursing deputies on scene. The female subject threw an object in her hand hitting Deputy Weddle in the face and was subsequently arrested and taken into custody. The female subject threatened to kill all officers on scene and continued to curse and kick while being escorted to the cruiser for transport.
• The male subject arrested was identified as Billy Ray North age 57 of London charged with disorderly conduct – second-degree; resisting arrest.
• The female subject arrested was identified as Angela North age 44 of London charged with public intoxication – controlled substances; disorderly conduct – second-degree; resisting arrest; menacing; terroristic threatening – third-degree; criminal mischief – third-degree.
These two individuals were lodged in the Laurel County correctional center.
