One Man Jailed, Another Sought Following Theft at Lumber Business Construction Site

MANCHESTER, Ky. — One man is behind bars, and another is being sought for questioning after a theft at the site of a new lumber business currently under construction in Manchester.
Shane Swafford, 34, address unknown, was arrested and charged with third-degree burglary and theft by unlawful taking after police say he was caught with stolen property valued between $8,000 and $9,000.
Manchester Police officers Jarrod Smith and Assistant Chief Antonio Dodson responded to a call reporting two male subjects stealing items from the new location of Jackson's Manchester Lumber. When officers arrived at the scene, the business owner had already detained Swafford near the property's tree line.
According to police, the business owner reported seeing a second suspect flee the scene before authorities arrived.
Swafford was found in possession of numerous items taken from the site and was taken into custody without incident.
Manchester Police are actively searching for Marty Wagers in connection with the investigation and have named him as a person of interest for questioning.
Anyone with information about Wagers’ whereabouts is urged to contact the Manchester Police Department.
