Family Relocated, Four Kittens Rescued After House Fire in Clay County

MANCHESTER, KY — A Clay County family has been relocated and four kittens rescued following a house fire that broke out Friday afternoon.

According to the City of Manchester Fire Department, crews were dispatched to the scene around 2 p.m. after receiving reports of a residential structure fire. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy flames visible through the front door of the home.

As teams worked to contain the blaze, firefighters entered the burning residence and were able to rescue two kittens trapped inside. The animals were suffering from smoke inhalation, and emergency crews, including Clay EMS, quickly administered oxygen and other lifesaving care on the scene.

Two additional kittens were rescued outside the home, bringing the total to four. All the animals are expected to recover.

The family affected by the fire has been connected with the American Red Cross for emergency assistance and temporary relocation.

In addition to the Manchester Fire Department, crews from Burning Springs Fire Department, Manchester Police Department, and the Clay County Sheriff's Office also responded and assisted at the scene.

No injuries to residents or emergency personnel have been reported at this time. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
