Neighbor shoots man stabbing woman in street

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – A Brentwood man had seen enough as he allegedly watch a man stab a woman.

The neighbor, who was armed with a handgun, confronted the subject.  Police say he tried to physically intervene while the man was actively stabbing the woman, but he was unable to stop him.

What did he do next?  The man shot the stabber multiple times.

The woman was stabbed multiple times during the altercation that started in a Lost Hollow Drive residence, police said.  The incident moved into the yard and eventually the street where the neighbor intervened.

Both subjects were taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where the woman is expected to survive. The man stabbing her died a day later, police say.

The incident was also witnessed by several other neighbors, police said.  No charges have been filed at this time.
