Manchester man threatens student
September 05, 2024
Charges are pending against a Manchester man accused of holding a gun to the head of a Clay County High School student Wednesday.
Superintendent William Sexton said Chris Collier, 31, entered the campus under false pretenses around noon.
“Mr. Collier had previously served as a volunteer assistant strength and conditioning coach for the basketball team,” Sexton said.
According to the victim, Collier asked him to meet him in the parking lot to talk. The victim got inside Collier’s truck, and a pistol was allegedly placed against his head.
The superintendent says this was part of a domestic issue, and no other students were involved.
“We are currently investigating the incident,” Sexton said. “Mr. Collier did not enter the school, and no other students were involved.”
The victim waited approximately 30-40 minutes before reporting the incident to school personnel.
When the school was notified, the school police department immediately began investigating. Collier had left the scene, and the police chief obtained warrants for his arrest.
Collier was found at 6:30 a.m. Thursday by the Clay Sheriff’s Department and placed under arrest.
He is charged with criminal trespassing 3rd, wanton endangerment 1st, terroristic threatening 3rd, unlawful possession of a weapon on school property, and kidnapping.
He is lodged in the Clay Detention Center and will appear for arraignment Friday in Clay District Court.
A healthy Clay County requires great community news.
