Clay Native Joins Isaiah House to Connect Others to Addiction Treatment

MANCHESTER, KY – A Clay County native Whitney Mackie (Sumner) has joined Isaiah House Treatment Center as a Client Care Navigator. In her new role, she will connect individuals struggling with addiction to treatment and educate communities across Central and Eastern Kentucky about recovery.
Mackie has deep roots in Southeastern Kentucky and a lifelong passion for helping others find freedom from addiction. “I came to work in recovery because of the heart my mom and dad had,” she said.
Her father was a pastor and chaplain in the prison system. Throughout her childhood, her parents welcomed people battling addiction into their home. After Mackie graduated, her parents sold their house and opened a recovery house for women, completely funded by churches and free to clients.
“Southeastern Kentucky has been hit hard by the addiction crisis,” Mackie said. “Meeting people where they are at and educating others on recovery are vital to breaking down the stigma of addiction.”
Isaiah House offers Christ-centered, long-term addiction recovery with a holistic approach that treats the mind, body and spirit. Whitney believes in the power of long-term treatment for those seeking recovery.
“I’ve worked in addiction and criminal justice pretty much my whole career,” Mackie said. “But what really drew me to Isaiah House is the purpose and the mission. And that it is faith-based.”
She believes faith in God is essential for lasting transformation and is eager to serve her home region.
“I have a passion for showing people that they have a purpose and a future,” she said.
Isaiah House serves the entire Commonwealth and provides transportation for those who need help getting to treatment. For more information, visit isaiah-house.org or call 859-375-9200.
