Tigers travel to Jackson; host Clinton Tuesday

Posted

It will be a battle for second place supremacy in the 49th district as the Tigers travel to Jackson County Friday night.

The Generals are 14-6 on the season with only one home loss, a 47-41 defeat to Barbourville on December 18th.

It’s always a battle when the two teams meet and coach Michael Jones expects this to be another one.

“It’s always tough in McKee as this is one of the best rivalries in the region,” he said.  “The gym will be packed, and I know the Tiger Nation will be there in full force.  We appreciate our fans and their tremendous support.

The Generals have four players averaging in double figures with Brennan Combs at 12 ppg., Wyatt Gray, Tansen Truett, and Joona Holm at 10 ppg. each.

“They have a very balanced scoring attack as you won’t see many teams with four players averaging in double figures,” Jones said.

Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.

CLINTON COUNTY

It’s a big matchup for the Tigers on Tuesday as they host the second-ranked team in the fourth region, Clinton County.

The Bulldogs are 18-3 on the season and are coming off a loss to Caverna in the All A Classic second round, 48-46.  Their two earlier losses were the second and third games of the season falling to Marshall County 81-42 and Monroe County 58-48.

Coach Nick Irwin’s squad reeled off 17 wins in a row before falling in the All A.

The senior duo of William Beaty (20 ppg.) and Jaxson Mason (17 ppg.) lead the high-octane Bulldog attack.

Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. at Bobby Keith Gymnasium.
