Tigers travel to Harlan Thursday

Full day of basketball Saturday with Bobby Keith Classic

MANCHESTER, Ky. – Now at the halfway point of the 2025/26 season, Clay County is 10-5 overall, with an 8-1 record within the 13th region. Their sole loss in the region was to North Laurel last Friday. This week, the Bobby Keith Classic is here, and the Tigers have a solid chance to stack a few wins before a rematch next week against those same Jaguars at home. Three games loom ahead for Clay County in this week of coverage.

Harlan – The Tigers will travel down Highway 119 to Harlan to face the Green Dragons for round two this season. Clay County took the first matchup 87-49 at home in the second game of the season. You can expect a fiery effort from Coach Derrick Akal’s squad, as the Green Dragons play the Tigers hard each time they meet. Tip is set for 7:30PM on Thursday, January 15th at Harlan High School.

Woodford County – The Bobby Keith Classic will feature the Tigers facing off against Woodford County. The Yellow Jackets are currently in the middle of the pack in a talented 8th region and are led by high-scoring Omari Jointer. Jointer is good for 20ppg and can score from all over the court. This game is set to tip at 7:00PM on Saturday, January 17th at CCHS.

10 a.m. CCMS 8th vs. Pineville

11:30 a.m. Knox Central vs. Rockcastle

1 p.m. Jackson Co. vs. Middlesboro

2:30 p.m. Richmond Model vs. Bracken Co.

4 p.m. Madison Southern vs. Wayne Co.

5:30 p.m. Harlan Co. vs. Powell Co.

7 p.m. Clay County vs. Woodford Co.

Berea – The Pirates will come to Manchester next Tuesday night for some 11th/13th region action. Sitting at 7-7, Berea is coached by Eric Fields and led in scoring by a trio of players in Jake Mills, Finley Blevins, and Colton Hembree. Each average 11 per game and will force the Tigers to play stiff defense to come out with a win. Tip is set for 7:30PM on Tuesday, January 20th at CCHS.
