Tigers finish with three on the road
MANCHESTER, Ky.) – The end of the regular season is already upon us. We’ve seemingly blinked and are in tournament time. The Tigers (17-8) will close out their regular season with some strong opponents, as they’ll hit the road for the upcoming week. On tap for the Clay County Tigers are the Wolfe County Wolves, the Harlan Green Dragons, and the Hazard Bulldogs.
Wolfe County – The 10-11 Wolves find themselves in the middle of a talented 14th region pack, hungry for more. Clay County will come to town looking to spoil the end of their season, and probably should if all goes well. The Wolves are 3-3 in their last six games and led by Corey Flinchum’s 19.0ppg. Caleb Creech (13.7ppg) and Dalton Voils (10.8ppg) provide most of the scoring, so expect Clay defenders to swarm these three young men. Tip is set for 7:30PM, February 17th, at Wolfe County High School.
Harlan – The 6-15 Green Dragons haven’t had a season like years past, but you can’t overlook them. Clay County kicked off the 2023-2024 season with a home win over Harlan, and now will look to complete the sweep. Harlan is led by Kyler McLendon’s 31ppg. McLendon is one of the top scorers in the state of Kentucky and slowing him down is crucial. He can go basket for basket with most guys. Tip is set for 6:00PM, February 20th, at Harlan High School.
Hazard – The Bulldogs are 22-3, a top 20 team in the state, and have already suffered a loss to the Tigers in Manchester. Now, Clay County must suit up and head to one of the state’s best venues in Memorial Gym to take on the Bulldogs in a rowdy home environment. Hazards’ Evin Eversole (21.0ppg) and Seth Caudill (18.2ppg) will look to get revenge on the Tigers. This is a matchup between two of the state’s better teams and should be filled with fireworks. Tip is set for 7:30PM, February 22nd, at Memorial Gym in Hazard.
