LONDON, Ky. — A man wanted in Clay County and facing multiple felony charges was arrested Monday night in Laurel County after fleeing from deputies and attempting to hide in a creek.

According to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office, Curtis Brewer, 46, of Ridgewood Drive in London, was taken into custody around 9:46 p.m. on May 26 by Shift Sgt. Allen Turner. The arrest followed a call to London–Laurel County 911 about a man allegedly firing a gun and causing a disturbance off Long Branch Road, approximately nine miles northeast of London.

When deputies arrived in the area, Brewer reportedly fled on foot into a densely wooded area. Sgt. Turner issued multiple commands for Brewer to stop, but he continued running until he was found moments later lying in a creek attempting to hide. He was taken into custody without further incident.

Brewer faces several charges including:

  • Fleeing or Evading Police (Second Degree, on Foot)

  • A Kentucky Parole Board warrant for absconding parole supervision and failure to report to a parole officer, related to a Knox Circuit Court conviction for first-degree burglary, two counts of third-degree burglary, theft by unlawful taking, first-degree criminal mischief, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and receiving stolen property.

  • A Laurel District Court warrant obtained by Kentucky State Police Trooper Joseph Mallory for theft by unlawful taking ($10,000 or more but under $1 million), involving the alleged theft of a Peterbilt semi tractorfrom a London business.

  • A Clay District Court warrant obtained by Clay County Sheriff’s Deputy Walter Marker for receiving stolen property ($10,000 or more), tied to the alleged illegal possession of a 2020 Peterbilt semi truck.

Brewer was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center, where he awaits further court proceedings. Authorities say additional charges may follow as investigations in both Clay and Laurel counties continue.
