Mildred Jean Gibson

Mildred Jean Gibson, passed away on April 14, 2025, at Landmark of Laurel Creek, surrounded by family. Born on May 3, 1944, in Hyden, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Mitchell Sizemore and Hallie Osborne Sizemore.

Mildred was a devoted homemaker who embodied the values of kindness, care, and friendliness. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her immediate family, touching the lives of many in her community. She found joy in simple pleasures, often engaging in her favorite hobbies, which included playing bingo and scrap-booking. These activities were more than just pastimes; they were opportunities for her to connect with others and share in moments of laughter and creativity.

Mildred is survived by her beloved siblings: brothers: Willie Sizemore and Robin of Bear Branch and Robert W. Sizemore of Somerset; Sisters: Laura Collins of Yeaddiss, Essie Jones and Russell of Sizerock, Louise Barrett of Bear Branch, Drucie Davidson and Russell Jr. of Indiana, and Sarah Stidham of Bear Branch. Each of them carries a treasure trove of memories shared with Mildred, memories that will be cherished in their hearts.

She is preceded in death by her loving and devoted parents: Mitchell and Hallie Sizemore; loving husband, Ed Gibson, whose presence she fondly remembered, and her dearly departed siblings: Donald Sizemore, Carson Sizemore, and Kathleen Caldwell. The loss of her parents and siblings left an indelible mark on her life, yet Mildred took the love she received and shared it manifold throughout her years.

Visitation: Thursday, April 17, 2025 starting at noon until the funeral hour

Funeral: Thursday, April 17, 2025 at 1pm
