Tigers travel to Barbourville, OBI

February 06, 2025

(MANCHESTER, Ky.) – Now beyond the halfway point in the regular season, the 15-4 Clay County Tigers have a chance to reel off numerous wins as the season winds down into postseason play. This week, two road matchups are in store as the Tigers will travel to Barbourville, followed by a road trip to Oneida Baptist for a 49th District rematch. The Tigers could possibly be the winners of five straight before they meet Jackson County again on February 14th.

Barbourville – The Barbourville Tigers (12-8) are a much tougher team than their record shows. They have lost a few close games to good opponents, just not able to get over the hump to reel off a victory. Led by a trio of scorers in Riley Corey (16.2ppg), Jasper Hubbs (12.9ppg), and Ethan Fisher (11.7ppg), the Barbourville Tigers are no easy out. This game is at Barbourville High School on Thursday, February 6th. Tip-off is set for 7:30 PM.

Oneida Baptist Institute – The Mountaineers (10-11) are young, fiery, and can play with anyone when perimeter shots fall. The Tigers defeated OBI 75-42 in their matchup at Clay County and will look to replicate that effort in a hostile Oneida environment.

Freshman duo Jacob Rogers and Skyler Roberts average 14 points per game, and they are the focal point of a fast-paced Mountaineer offense.   Rogers recently scored his 1,000 point of his career.
Coach Larry Gritton will have his squad ready for this 49th District matchup. This game is at Oneida Baptist Institute on Monday, February 10th. Tip-off is set for 7:30 PM.
