Near tragedy at Big Creek exit

July 18, 2024

Witnesses say a roadway paint striping crew's work led to a three-vehicle accident Tuesday morning. Several people were transported to the hospital from the scene at the Big Creek exit of the Hal Rogers Parkway. The driver of the Ford truck, Kevin Maggard, says the crew gave him clearance to turn left on the parkway when struck by an oncoming vehicle. That vehicle also struck a Daniel Boone Transit while waiting to merge onto the parkway. Big Creek Fire Department members responded and extricated one patient from the cars. The Clay County Sheriff's Department is investigating the accident.
