Man jumps in front of vehicles; kicks deputy

Laurel Sheriff Deputy Zach Allen arrested Mark Roberts, 59, of London, on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at approximately 5:26 PM. 
The arrest occurred on Lick Fork Road, approximately 4 miles east of London, after London dispatched Deputy Allen – Laurel County 911 Communication Ctr. numerous complaints were received regarding a male subject standing in the middle of the roadway and jumping in front of vehicles. 
While en route to the scene, Deputy Allen's father advised that the male subject had allegedly punched a vehicle that was passing by him. 
When Deputy Allen arrived, he observed the male subject in the roadway. He conducted an investigation, noting a strong odor of alcoholic beverages emitting from him and determining that he was under the influence. The suspect became noncompliant with Deputy Allen upon arrest. Following a brief struggle where both Deputy Allen and the suspect fell and the suspect kicked Deputy Allen numerous times, the suspect was taken into custody. Deputy Daniel Reed then arrived at the scene to assist in placing the suspect into the patrol vehicle as he continued to resist. Mark Roberts was charged with alcohol intoxication in a public place, menacing, resisting arrest, assault – third-degree – police officer is victim.
