William Jennings Bryan “Bill” Hampton was born on May 26, 1931 in Clay County, Kentucky. He was the son of the late William Jennings Bryan Hampton and Laura Belle Bennett Hampton. He was united in marriage to Wanda Spurlock Hampton who survives of London, Kentucky. He is also survived by a daughter, Teresa Hampton Stansbury also of London; four grandchildren, Kelly Ratliff, Katherine Stansbury, Michael Stansbury, Dale Flannery; six great-grandchildren, Meredith Ratliff, William Ratliff, Scarlett Stansbury, Landon Hallock, Aaron Hallock and Loretta Stansbury; two sisters, Fannie Harbor and Ida Wells plus a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing.
He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Marjorie Spurlock Hampton, a step daughter, Sandra Flannery and a grandson, Matthew Stansbury.
Bill was a veteran of the United States Navy and of the Christian faith.
William Jennings Bryan Hampton departed this life on Monday, January 1, 2024 being 92 years, 7 months and 6 days of age.
The funeral service for Bill Hampton will be conducted at 1 pm Friday in the Bowling Funeral Home Chapel with Andrew Dyer officiating. Burial will follow in Tyner Cemetery in Tyner Kentucky.
The family of Bill Hampton will receive friends beginning at 11 am Friday until the funeral hour of 1 pm at Bowling Funeral Home.
