Wayman Reid Hicks, Sr., of London, Kentucky, was born on June 22, 1964, in Manchester, Kentucky. He was the son of the late Tommy Hicks and Gelema Smith of London.
He leaves behind a loving family to cherish his memory, including his five children: Shannon Holman (William Hale II) of Clarksville, Tennessee; Wayman Hicks, Jr. (Aubrey Conley), Matthew Hicks (Sheila Couch), Joshua Hicks, and Deanna Hicks (Ryan Osborne), all of London. He is also survived by his siblings: Rebecca Gregory (Pleas), Verlon Hicks (Isabelle), and Vernon Hicks (Tracy), all of London, and Debbie Estep (Johnny) of Annville, Kentucky.
Wayman was a proud grandfather to twelve grandchildren: Aaron Hicks, Allyson Holman, Claire Holman, Daniel Hicks, Dawson Hicks, Zymerious Hicks, Gracie Turner, Delilah Wilson, Elaina Hicks, Harper James, Angel Hicks, and Jaxon Hicks. He was also blessed with one great-grandchild, Houston Reid Hicks. In addition, he leaves behind many other relatives and friends who will deeply mourn his passing.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Terry Hicks.
Wayman worked in construction for many years. He enjoyed playing the guitar and listening to good music. Known for his generous spirit and compassionate heart, he was always willing to help anyone in need. Above all else, Wayman loved his family and treasured every moment spent with them.
Wayman Reid Hicks, Sr. departed this life on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at the age of 61 years, 11 months, and 11 days. His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him.
The funeral service for Wayman Hicks Sr. were conducted at 12 noon Saturday in the Bowling Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in the Roots Branch Cemetery in Clay County.
