Rubin B. Marcum, 80, of Manchester, KY, passed away Monday, September 22nd, at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.
Rubin was born in Manchester, KY on January 25, 1945, the son of the late William "Bill" and Mamie Marcum.
Rubin, along with his father Bill and brother Leslie, owned and operated their own carpentry business. Together, they contributed to the community by building many homes and churches throughout the years. Later in life, Rubin transitioned to work for the Ikerd-Bandy Coal Company, where he continued his career until retirement.
Rubin was strong-willed and set in his ways, but he would welcome anyone into his home and treat them just like they were his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Buena Faye Collins Marcum.
Rubin is survived by his children: Rubin Allen Marcum, Kim Marcum (Kenny Price), and Amy Saylor (Wade Saylor), all of Manchester. As well as the following grandchildren: Steven Marcum, Chad Marcum, Liberty Taylor, Morgan Davidson, Addison Saylor, and Alana Marcum; and his great-grandchildren: Anakin Marcum and Octavia Marcum.
Also surviving are his brother and sister: Leslie Marcum (Jamima) of Manchester and Sally Gay Hall of Big Creek.
In addition to his wife and parents, Rubin was preceded in death by his sisters: Julie Marcum and Lula Bishop.
Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, September 26th at Britton Funeral Home, with Roy Lane Woods, Paul Mitchell and Gary Harris officiating. Burial will follow in the Collins France Cemetery on Big Creek.
Visitation will be held at 6:00 PM on Thursday, September 25th at Britton Funeral Home.
