Melvin Kenny Smith, age 64 of Oneida was born in Oneida, KY on April 17, 1959 to the late John Franklin and Thelma Couch Smith and departed this life on January 26, 2024 at his home. He was a member of Ante Past and Hopewell Baptist Churches and enjoyed Coon Hunting, fishing, reading the Bible, listening to music and time with family and friends, especially the grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, a son: Kenny Lee Wagers; 3 brothers: Thern Smith, Bob Smith, and Rick Smith; and 2 sisters: Emma Smith and Sylvia Brumley preceded him in death.
He is survived by his loving wife: Wanda Smith of Oneida; a son Jon Smith and wife Amy of Oneida; a daughter: Emily Davidson and husband Chad of Oneida; 3 brothers: Bill Smith of IN, Donnie Smith and J. D. Smith both of Manchester; 6 sisters: Anna Lee Collins, Ivory Campbell, Darlene Smith, Evelyn Brock and husband Bill, Robbie Gail Henson and husband Don, and Haley Brock and husband Terry all of Manchester; 9 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; and a host of other relatives and many friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral Services for Mr. Melvin Smith will be conducted in the Hopewell Baptist Church on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Anthony Hinkle and Rev. Authur Bowling officiating. Burial will follow in the Smith-Sizemore Cemetery with family and friends serving as Pallbearers. Barbourville Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Friends will be received at the Hopewell Baptist Church on Thursday from 12 noon to the funeral hour at 2.
