Marie Allen, 78, of Manchester, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2026, at AdventHealth Manchester Hospital.
She was born in Manchester on Feb. 26, 1948, to the late I.V. and Mable Hubbard Smallwood.
Marie was the devoted wife of James Allen, with whom she shared 59 years of marriage.
She was survived by her husband, James Allen of Manchester; her daughters, Peggy Hoskins and husband Jamie of London, Teresa Vanover and husband Steve of London, and Shawna Ledford and husband Michael of Manchester.
She was also survived by her grandchildren, Holly Hibbard and husband Anthony, Brandy Alsip, Michael Vanover and wife Tiffany, Lexy Mosher and husband Brad, Ethan Ledford and wife Chelsey, Kara Beth Ledford, Maddy Hoskins, Carson Vanover and Max Ledford; her great-grandchildren, Lilli Gambrel, Halle Alsip, Paxon Hibbard and Jack Hibbard; and her sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, whom she considered to be her own siblings, Joyce Lawson, Gary Allen, Benny Allen and General Allen.
Additional survivors included her siblings, Verdalin Sandlin, Dillard Smallwood, Amos Smallwood, Tammy Mobley, Linda Gail Smallwood and Rita Hatcher.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Anderson "Pegib" Allen and Hester Allen, and her sister-in-law, Janice Bowling.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Britton Funeral Home with Mike Gray officiating. Burial followed in Manchester Memorial Gardens.
