MANCHESTER — A Manchester man suffered life-threatening injuries following a shooting incident at a residence on Portersburg Road early Saturday morning, according to Kentucky State Police.
KSP Post 11 in London was contacted by Clay County 911 at approximately 2 a.m. on June 13 regarding a shots-fired complaint at a residence. The initial caller reported that a family member was at the home threatening to harm those inside before multiple gunshots were heard.
When troopers arrived at the scene, they located Jeremy Oliver, 23, of Manchester, suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.
Troopers immediately began rendering aid by applying a chest seal before turning care over to Clay County EMS personnel. Oliver was transported to Saint Joseph London Hospital and was later transferred to the University of Kentucky Albert B. Chandler Hospital due to the severity of his injuries.
According to the preliminary investigation, Oliver allegedly arrived at his parents' residence while intoxicated and became involved in a verbal altercation that escalated. The incident ultimately resulted in Oliver sustaining a gunshot wound to the torso.
State police said family members attempted to transport Oliver to the hospital themselves but were unsuccessful before emergency responders arrived.
The investigation remains ongoing and is being led by Trooper Judd Weaver. He was assisted at the scene by additional KSP personnel, Clay County EMS, and the Manchester Police Department.
No charges have been announced at this time as investigators continue to review the circumstances surrounding the incident.
