MANCHESTER — A 23-year-old Manchester man who suffered a life-threatening gunshot wound during an incident at a Portersburg Road residence has died from his injuries.

Jeremy Oliver died Saturday after being hospitalized following the June 13 shooting, which remains under investigation by Kentucky State Police.

KSP Post 11 in London was initially contacted by Clay County 911 at approximately 2 a.m. June 13 regarding a shots-fired complaint at a residence on Portersburg Road.

According to state police, the initial caller reported that a family member was at the residence threatening to harm those inside. Multiple gunshots were subsequently heard.

When troopers arrived, they found Oliver suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.

Troopers immediately began providing emergency medical assistance, including applying a chest seal to Oliver's wound, before turning his care over to Clay County EMS.

Oliver was initially transported to Saint Joseph London Hospital. Because of the severity of his injuries, he was later transferred to the University of Kentucky Albert B. Chandler Hospital in Lexington for additional treatment.

Oliver ultimately died Saturday from injuries suffered in the shooting.

According to the preliminary investigation released by KSP following the incident, Oliver allegedly arrived at his parents' residence while intoxicated and became involved in a verbal altercation that escalated.

The confrontation ultimately resulted in Oliver suffering a gunshot wound to the torso.

State police said family members initially attempted to transport Oliver to the hospital themselves but were unsuccessful before emergency responders arrived and took over his care.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation. State police have not announced any charges in connection with the incident.

Trooper Judd Weaver is leading the investigation. He was assisted at the scene by additional Kentucky State Police personnel, Clay County EMS and the Manchester Police Department.

Additional information is expected to be released as the investigation continues.
