Joseph Squire Garrett, 82, passed away Monday, October 30, 2023, surrounded by his family at his home in Newnan. Joe was born May 1, 1941, in Manchester, KY to the late Hulan Garrett and Ivory Benge Garrett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven siblings and a grandson, Matthew Mullis.
Joe worked at Ford Motor Company for 30 years before owning and operating J&J Grading. He and his family are longtime members of The Church of God of the Union Assembly. Joe was a dedicated Mason where he was a charter member of Bigham Lodge and had been a member of Coweta Lodge #60 for over 50 years.
The funeral is 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 1, 2023, in the chapel of McKoon Funeral Home with Pastor Jesse Hughes and Pastor Jurandon Hughes officiating. Interment, with Masonic Rites, will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will greet friends at the funeral home beginning at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday. The family expresses their sincere appreciation to Allison at Lighthouse Hospice and to two granddaughters, Jennifer Yearwood and Tiffany Petro, for the exceptional care provided for Joe.

Survivors include wife, Betty Eversole Garrett; children, Jack (Lindsey) Garrett, Carolyn (Paul) Ragsdale, James (Lynn) Garrett; sister, Lena Bundy; 23 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
