Jackie Sue Poer, 81, of North Vernon, passed away on January 5, 2024, at The Belmont Health and Rehabilitation Center in Columbus.
Born December 19, 1942, in Oneida, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Callaway and Bernice (Estridge) Bingham. She married Virgil Delbert Poer on November 25, 1962, at the First Christian Church in North Vernon. He preceded her in death on September 3, 2018.
Jackie was a 1961 graduate of Seymour High School in Seymour. She worked in the office and read meters for the Hayden Water Company for several years and as a food demonstrator for local grocery stores. Jackie sold Old Timer woodstoves locally and had worked for the Excello Shirt Factory in Seymour. She was a member of the First Christian Church in North Vernon. Jackie enjoyed going on cruises, camping, spending time in Florida with Virgil, playing euchre with her local ladies’ card club, photography, cooking and fishing. She loved spending time with her family.
Survivors include her son, Randy Poer and fiancé Shonda Bainter of North Vernon; daughter, Deborah (Rick) Karl of Mill Spring, North Carolina; brothers, Bill (Janos) Bingham, Don (Donna) Bingham and Robert Bingham, all of North Vernon; grandchildren, Doug (Taylor) Yeary and Kaitlin (Nathaniel) Galliher, both of Seymour, Richard Karl and Zachary Karl, both of Elgin, IL, Laura Pate and fiancé Brant Hurley and Sylvia Poer and fiancé William Waltz, both of North Vernon, Jennifer (D.J.) Kogut of Lombard, IL, and Paul Sanders and fiancé Katie Shinness of Apex, NC; and great-grandchildren, Callela, Halina, Jacelee and Oree Waltz, all of North Vernon and Jack Kogut of Lombard, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and daughter-in-law, Connie Poer.
A funeral service for Jackie was conducted on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Bridgewater officiating. The burial followed in the Vernon Cemetery.
Memorials can be made in honor of Jackie through the funeral home to the Hayden Historical Society and Museum.
