MANCHESTER, Ky. — Retired educator and former Manchester Tourism Commission Chairman Alma Faye Gregoryhas been appointed to serve on the Manchester City Council, filling the vacant seat left by the passing of Councilwoman Donna Allen.
The council voted 5–2 to approve Gregory’s appointment during a special called meeting held Wednesday morning at City Hall.
Gregory, who served the community for decades in the school system and through her leadership within local tourism efforts, said she is honored to step into the role and continue serving the people of Manchester.
“I am very thankful for this opportunity,” Gregory said. “I look forward to serving the citizens of Manchester and helping our community move forward in a positive direction.”
Mayor Steve Collins and fellow council members welcomed Gregory to the board and expressed gratitude for her willingness to serve during a time of transition.
Gregory will complete the remainder of Allen’s term.
