Posted

Authorities have launched a homicide investigation following the death of a Goose Rock man earlier this week.

According to officials, Alonzo Jackson, 60, was last seen alive on Sunday, Feb. 8, at his residence on Steve’s Court in the Goose Rock community. Neighbors requested a welfare check on Tuesday, Feb. 10, after becoming concerned about Jackson. He was discovered unresponsive inside the home and was later pronounced deceased by Clay County Coroner Jason Abner.

Chief Deputy Clifton Jones with the Clay County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the case is being treated as a homicide.

“We are conducting a homicide investigation and following up on leads,” Jones said.

Following an examination by the Kentucky State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort, Jackson’s manner of death was officially ruled a homicide.

Coroner Jason Abner also commented on the case, noting, “Mr. Jackson was pronounced deceased at the residence after being discovered during the welfare check. Our office is continuing to assist law enforcement as needed.”

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office continues to actively investigate the case. Authorities have not released additional details at this time. Anyone with information related to the investigation is encouraged to contact the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.
