MANCHESTER, Ky. – The Lady Tigers now sit at 5-5 on the year after this past week, falling 64-50 to Floyd County while defeating Jellico 59-25. Coach Gemma Parks team is hungry for wins and it shows, as they play hard until the final buzzer sounds. This group is exciting and improving each game. Let’s recap the last two games.
Floyd Central 64 Clay County 50 – The Lady Tigers dropped a tough one to a solid Floyd County team in the Lady Commodore Christmas Classic at Perry County Central on Monday. Carly Fultz paced the Tiger offense with 16 points while also hauling in 14 rebounds, continuing what has been a breakout season for the junior forward.
Clay County is continuing to get strong play from its youth, as 8th grader Harper Rice added 11-points and seven rebounds, while freshman Anna Samples scored a season high 11 points. Maci White added five, Taylor Grubb three, Madison Pendland two, and Lauryn Sizemore with two.
Clay County 59 Jellico (TN) 25 – Clay County pulls off a 34-point win over Jellico in the Magic City Winter Classic. Carly Fultz continues to shine as she led Clay County with 21 points and six rebounds. Coach Gemma Parks says her emergence has changed the dynamic of this team, and how teams have to prepare for the Lady Tigers as she now is becoming a defensive focal point.
Maci White added 13 points in the victory, drilling multiple three-pointers. Madison Pendland added eight, Lauryn Sizemore with seven, Harper Rice six, and Taylor Grubb/Ella Samples with two apiece.
