HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — A former lead pastor at All Nations Worship Assembly (ANWA) in Huntsville is facing federal charges of wire fraud and filing a false tax return after authorities say he misused more than $400,000 in church funds for personal expenses.
According to federal court records, Adrian Davis, who previously served as a marketing consultant and lead pastor for ANWA, received a salary and parsonage as part of his role. However, investigators allege he diverted church money for personal purchases, including vehicles, entertainment, mortgage payments, and credit card bills.
Authorities say Davis used ANWA funds in 2018 and 2019 to buy a 2016 GMC Yukon for $45,982 and spent more than $35,000 on unauthorized entertainment and retail items. He is also accused of using more than $24,000 to pay a mortgage on a home for his mother and wiring more than $117,000 to American Express to pay off personal credit cards.
In total, court documents allege Davis used over $400,000 in church funds without authorization.
Davis is additionally charged with filing a false tax return. Prosecutors say his 2020 tax filing in March 2021 reported $138,621 in income, but he allegedly earned significantly more than that amount.
Federal records show Davis has signed a plea agreement on both charges. Under the terms of the deal, he will pay nearly $550,000 in restitution — more than $434,000 to All Nations Worship Assembly and over $114,000 to the IRS.
The maximum penalty for wire fraud is 20 years in prison, while filing a false tax return carries a maximum sentence of three years.
Davis is scheduled to be arraigned on October 23 at 9:30 a.m. in Huntsville federal court.
