Elmer Marcum was born July 14, 1938 in Clay County, Kentucky. He was the son of the late Major Marcum and Pearlie Wombles Marcum. He was united in marriage to Bobbie Birchfield Marcum who preceded him in death. He is survived by his five children, Catherine Abner and husband Fletcher, Michelle Powell and husband Andy, Elmer G. Marcum and wife Tabatha, Sammy Marcum and wife Ami, and Lisa Sutton and husband Tim all of London; four siblings, Herman Marcum, C H Marcum, Eugene Marcum, and Irene Marcum also all of London; fourteen grandchildren; twenty five great-grandchildren; plus a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing.
In addition to his parents and wife he was also preceded in death by six siblings, Jonas Marcum, Bert Marcum, Willie Marcum, Ruby Allen, Idell Allen, and Bertie Hoskins; one granddaughter, Katie Grubb.
He was a Truck Driver and of the Holiness Faith.
Elmer Marcum departed this life Wednesday, December 13, 2023 being 85 years, 4 months, and 30 days of age.
The funeral service for Elmer Marcum will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Sunday in the Bowling Funeral Home Chapel with Jerry Chesnut officiating. Burial will follow in Al Marcum Cemetery in Clay County, Kentucky.
The family of Elmer Marcum will receive friends at Bowling Funeral Home Sunday beginning at 12 noon until the service hour of 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial donations be made to Bowling Funeral Home to assist with funeral expenses.
