MANCHESTER, Ky. — Two women were charged during a traffic stop in Manchester and led to their arrest after Kentucky State Police discovered methamphetamine, prescription pills, and a firearm inside their vehicle.

According to a uniform citation issued by KSP Trooper Derek Dennis of Post 11, officers stopped a black 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe with Kentucky registration M3Z305 at 2:37 p.m. Sunday on KY-80 near its intersection with U.S. 421 South. The driver, identified as Sandra Gibson, 33, of Manchester, was pulled over for failing to use a turn signal. Her passenger was identified as Lacey Salva, 28, also of Manchester.

Trooper Dennis reported that Gibson displayed signs of impairment, including bloodshot and glossy eyes and pinpoint pupils. The odor of marijuana was also detected inside the vehicle. When asked to exit, the trooper observed suspected methamphetamine on the driver’s side floorboard.

A subsequent search revealed two bags containing a total of 166 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 24 blue morphine pills (15 mg each), and a Taurus TCP .380 automatic pistol. Officers also found a plastic container holding several prescription medications, including hydrocodone, buprenorphine, clonazepam, and Xanax, along with a digital scale and other drug paraphernalia.

Both Gibson and Salva were detained and taken to the Manchester Police Department, where they were interviewed by agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) before being lodged in the Clay County Detention Center.

Gibson was charged with trafficking in controlled substances (methamphetamine and unspecified drugs), possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to use or improper signal. Salva faces multiple counts of trafficking and possession of controlled substances, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia.
