Alexis Rice Tillett, 79, passed away on February 25, 2024, at Frankfort Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. Born May 26, 1944, in Oneida, Clay County, KY, she was the oldest daughter of the late Ora Edison Rice and Rheba Allen Bowling Rice. Alexis was a graduate of Henry Clay High School and Kentucky State University, earning a degree in Computer Science. She spent her career as a COBOL computer programmer/analyst, combining her love for the English language with technology. She worked for several years for Kentucky Central Life Insurance and then the State of Kentucky Department of Revenue. She retired in 2007.
Alexis was a talented published poet and short story writer, and longtime member of numerous writing groups. She loved her cats, as well as keeping the nursery at church and gardening in her flower and vegetable garden. Photography and creating family photo albums was also a passion. Family and friends were always near and dear to her heart, as she would organize family reunions. Love of sweets and cake decorating skills made her a sure bet to bring a dessert to any potluck function.
