Corbin outlasts young Panthers 68-56
For the second season in a row, the Corbin Redhounds have advanced to the 13th Region Tournament Championship after beating Knox Central 68-56.
In a game marred with controversial fouls, Coach Tony Pietrowski and the Redhounds fought off the young-pesky Knox Central squad led by first-year coach Mitchell Madden.
Knox’s top three scorers (Gavin Chadwell, Grayson Burton, and Austin Bargo) were on the bench before halftime saddled with foul trouble.
Two technical fouls, one against Chadwell and another on coach Mitchell, had the Panther faithful furious.
But, don’t take anything away from the Redhounds. This team can play and will not be an easy out come Monday night.
It’s been an amazing season for Knox Central and Coach Mitchell. He inherited a team that finished 4-26 last year. The Panthers won the 51st District Championship and finish the season at 22-10.
The Redhounds were led in scoring by Zander Curry with 21; Carter Stewart 14; Ryder Akins 13; Trey Worley seven; Zach Reynolds four; Connor Middleton three; Lucas Brittain three; Eli Pietrowski three.
Grayson Burton led the Panthers with 19; Gavin Chadwell 14; Austin Bargo eight; Braydon Mills six; Evan Hubbard four; Hayden Melton two; Trevor Jordan two and Nathan Dunn one.
