Too much firepower. That’s the best way to describe Clay’s blowout win over Pineville in the opening round of the 13th region tournament.

Clay jumped out early and never looked back in the 80-50 win.

The Tigers size and strength proved to be just too much for the smaller Mountain Lions.

Coach Michael Jones pulled his starters midway through the fourth leading 66-43.

The Tigers opened the first quarter in dominating fashion as they raced out to a 14-2 lead and never looked back. They were powered by a big quarter from seniors Hayden Harris and Elijah Bundy scoring eight and six points respectively.

Holding a 24-8 lead, Clay never let up on the gas expanding to a 42-20 lead by halftime.

It was more of the same in the second half as the black and gold rolled to a 60-36 advantage heading into the last quarter of play.

Clay was led in scoring by Hayden Harris and Elijah Bundy with 17 points each. Adon Grubb 11, Aiden Wagers 10, Ethan Jackson 10, Brody Hooker four, Jay Nicholson four, Tate Rice three, Landon Smith two, Isaiah Bundy two.

The weak spot in the game for the Tigers was once again free throws going 6-15 from the line.
