Tourism Commission honors the late Pete Perrin
The Manchester Tourism Commission recently honored the late Pete Perrin, a former commissioner who passed away recently.
With Perrin’s wife Norma on hand, Commissioner Jamey Mills unveiled a sign proclaiming the office’s conference room “Commissioner Pete Perrin Conference Room”.
A very emotional Norma Perrin thanked the commission for the kind gesture.
“Pete loved you all and he loved being a Tourism Commissioner for Manchester,” she said. “Thank you all so much for this gesture.”
Mills had this to say during the ceremony, “What a fellow he was. Pete was not only a fellow commissioner, but he was also a dear friend. I would always look forward to our early Saturday morning conversations at Wendy’s or that phone call out of the blue telling me to stop by and have lunch with him so we could talk about all the happenings. When I was appointed to the commission four years ago Pete was the first one to call and welcome me to the commission. I often call this commission my second family. And that is what we are, a family. We all hurt when Pete got sick. We prayed every day. The day Pete passed away we knew we had to do something special for Pete and his time with the commission. That is the reason we’re here tonight."
