The London Police Department shared that one of their officers assisted in a medical emergency Tuesday evening.
Police say that Corporal Ben Webb, of Clay County, was on a routine patrol on Moriah Church Road when he became aware that an 18-year-old man had inadvertently cut his leg and was advised it had potentially cut an artery.
London police say Corporal Webb found that bystanders had applied a tourniquet, but it had not been properly secured, causing the blood to continue to flow.
Corporal Webb then reapplied the tourniquet and was able to get the blood to stop until paramedics could take over.
The man was later flown to UK hospital, where police say he was treated and is expected to make a full recovery.
A healthy Clay County requires great community news.
