Austin Lewis

Austin Lewis, age 25, of Herrin, IL, passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 in Herrin Hospital, Herrin, IL.

He was born, Richard Austin Lewis, on November 22, 1998 in Manchester, KY the youngest of 6 children to Richard and Melissa (Bundy) Lewis.

He was a graduate of Perkins High School in Sandusky, OH Class of 2016. Austin worked in food service until he began to face health challenges.

Austin was an energetic, unique and creative person. He was kind and caring individual and was not afraid to be himself. Being an orphan in his teen years made life especially difficult for Austin and as he faced challenges in life it made him stronger and gave him a deeper sense of individuality. He was the life of the party and everyone that ever met him remembered him with a smile.

He is survived by his friend, Lance Vickers of Herrin, IL; five siblings, Michael Lewis, Ashley Lewis, Brittany Lewis, Nathan Lewis and Amanda Lewis; and many close friends that loved him as family.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 N. Court St., Marion.

Austin's wishes were for cremation rites to be accorded and no public services will be held at this time. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
