Lady Tigers host Bell Tuesday

December 04, 2023

Coach Gemma Park’s Clay County Lady Tigers will host Bell County in their home opener on Tuesday, December 5th.

Fans will get a glimpse in one of the 13th region’s top players in Gracie Jo Wilder.

Wilder led the Bobcats in scoring last year at 20ppg. scoring 645 points on the season.

She made 68-187 of her three-point attempts.

Coach Parks with the youngest team in the history of the storied program this year, knows she will have her hands full.

“Gracie is just a tremendous player,” Park’s said. “We all know she can score, but she’s also a tremendous rebounder averaging 10 per game.”

The Lady Bobcats won the 52nd District title last season before falling in the opening round of the 13th region tournament to Jackson County 58-38.

“That loss still stings,” Parks said as a former standout player and coach. “I’ve been in their shoes and know going into the next season you want to prove people wrong on that loss. They’ll be focused and come ready to play.”

The Lady Bobcats also return their second leading scorer from last season, Lauren McGeorge.

McGeorge averaged 14 ppg. with 74 made three-pointers.
