One dead after family dispute
A family domestic dispute turned deadly Thursday morning and one man is dead.
Christian Cox, 23, of Manchester, was pronounced dead at AdventHealth Hospital following the shooting, according to sheriff Patrick Robinson.
A 911 call was made around 7 a.m. that a man had been shot in the head with a .9mm pistol.
When police arrived, Cox was still breathing and transported by ambulance.
According to the sheriff, Cox came to a family members home and forced himself inside.
“Witnesses say he assaulted a female family member and was asked to leave,” he said. “The altercation continued, and Cox was shot in the head.”
The identity of the shooter was not made available, but the sheriff says no charges have been filed.
“It appears to be a case of self-defense to stop the assault,” he added.
The case will be presented to a Clay grand jury.
