Belt gives false name to officers
Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Tommy Houston along with Detective Hunter Disney and Detective Taylor McDaniel arrested Lonnie Belt age 46 of Highway 638, Manchester on Friday morning November 10, 2023 at approximately 10:30 AM. The arrest occurred on N. Laurel Rd., approximately 2 miles north of London while deputies were investigating a complaint of two male subjects involved in an altercation at a business there.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they learned that a male subject allegedly involved had left the scene walking toward London. Sheriff's investigators were able to locate the suspect nearby and conducted an investigation determining that he was under the influence.
They also learned during the course of their investigation that this individual had driven a motor vehicle to the business where the original disturbance complaint was at.
During the investigation of this individual, he misidentified himself as his brother and deputies learned that the suspect was wanted on an outstanding warrant. Lonnie Belt was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense; giving officer false identifying information. In addition, this subject was charged on a Perry District Court bench warrant of arrest charging failure to answer to the charge of intoxication – controlled substances. This individual was lodged in the Laurel County correctional center.
