Alma Jean Napier

Alma Jean Napier, 85, of Essie, Ky, passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at St. Joseph Hospital in London, Ky. Alma was born April 23, 1938, in Hyden, Ky to the union of the late Omus Smith and Virgie Morgan Smith.

In her former years, Alma enjoyed gardening, and loved flowers. Alma really loved to go shopping in her free time. She also enjoyed getting to visit and spend time with her family and friends. Most of all, Alma loved going to church and sitting on the porch reading her bible. Alma was a loved member of Roark Pentecostal church, and Upper Grassy Pentecostal Church.

Alma was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Napier; one granddaughter, Linda Suzanne Napier; her parents, Omus Smith and Virgie Morgan Smith; two brothers, Bonnell Smith and Denzil Smith; two sisters, Elsie Bowling and Lillian Smith;

Alma leaves behind one son, Denny Napier (Pat); one daughter, Linda Morgan (Larry); grandchildren, Alicia Danielle Napier (Braxton), McKenzie A. Napier, and James Adam Napier (Brooke); two brothers, Claude Smith (Alice Lee) of Big Creek, Ky, and James Ray Smith (Marietta) of Essie, Ky; four sisters, Pearline Whitehead of Essie, Ky, Rose Howard of London, Ky, Carolyn Hacker (Tony) of Essie, Ky, and Deanna Shepherd (Jerry) of Manchester, Ky; a host of nieces and nephews; special friends, June Smith, Jewel Hoskins of Stinnett, Ky, Charlotte Morgan of Bledsoe, Ky, and Rita Smith of Essie, Ky;

The funeral service will be held at 1p.m. – Friday, November 3, 2023, at Roark Pentecostal Church with Richard Howard, Jerry Maggard, and Patrick Morgan Officiating. Special speakers, John Hunt and Charlotte Morgan.

The interment will follow the services at the Smith Cemetery at Essie, KY.

The family will receive friends from 6p.m. – Thursday, November 2, 2023, at Roark Pentecostal Church.
