'He needs to die'-Search continues for murder suspect

TIPTONVILLE, Tenn. — The small community of Tiptonville remains on edge and in mourning following a gruesome quadruple homicide earlier this week, a tragedy that has left residents stunned and searching for answers.
The killings, which authorities say are connected to the abandonment of a 7-month-old girl in a Dyer County yard, occurred Tuesday. The suspect, 28-year-old Austin Drummond, is accused of murdering four people before fleeing the area.
Law enforcement officials have launched a statewide manhunt. Drummond was last seen Wednesday in Jackson, Tennessee. On Friday, authorities recovered his vehicle in the same area—abandoned and empty.
For Tiptonville residents, fear and heartbreak now shadow everyday life.
“This situation is sad and hard to comprehend,” said local resident Neal Daughtery, who added that he’s been carrying a firearm whenever he leaves home. “He murdered four people. He needs to die,” Daughtery said bluntly, reflecting the frustration and fear felt by many.
Others in the area say they’ve taken precautions, choosing to remain indoors and ensuring doors and windows are securely locked.
At First Baptist Church, Senior Pastor John Troutman has been working to bring the shaken community together. He said the tragedy has not only shocked Tiptonville, but also reminded residents of the fragility of life.
“People are scared, they’re concerned,” Troutman said. “There is no promise that you’re safe all the time. So, it just brings it home a little closer.”
Troutman said prayers are being offered for the victims, their families, and especially for the infant girl who survived but now faces life without her parents.
As the investigation continues, authorities are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any information related to Drummond’s whereabouts. Meanwhile, a grieving community continues to search for solace and justice.
A healthy Clay County requires great community news.
