Naomi Thompson

August 04, 2025

Naomi Thompson, beloved daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2025, at the age of 76.
Born on July 14, 1949, Naomi was the youngest daughter and the seventh of nine children born to Aaron Thompson, Sr. and Margaret Thompson, both of whom preceded her in death.
She is survived by three loving siblings: William Joseph Thompson (Dot), Priscilla Riley (William, deceased), and Aaron Thompson, Jr. She was preceded in death by her other five siblings: Lawrence Thompson, Ruth Miller (Joe, deceased), Marie Lyttle (Roy, deceased), Catherine Thompson, and Perry Thompson.
Naomi, affectionately known as “Aunt Nay,” was dearly loved by her many nieces and nephews. Her kind and generous spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. She was especially grateful for the friends who became like family—Fonda, Gary, Chris, Barry, and Teakeyshia—who stood faithfully by her side in both sickness and health.
A woman of deep faith, Naomi was a lifelong believer in Christ. She began her spiritual journey at Lilly Grove Baptist Church, a church founded by her grandparents William and Bertha Johnson, both now departed. She found great joy in old Country Gospel music and Negro spirituals, often filling her home and heart with the songs of her faith.
Naomi had a deep love for God and for people. Her warmth, compassion, and unwavering devotion to family and friends will be remembered always.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the healthcare professionals, friends, and loved ones who offered care, comfort, and companionship during Naomi’s final days. Your support meant the world to her and to all who loved her.
