Heidrick charged with vehicular homicide

August 01, 2025

Laurel County Sheriff's Detective Brad Mink is investigating a fatal three-vehicle crash that occurred around midnight on August 1, 2025, on American Greeting Card Road, approximately 11 miles south of London.

According to investigators, Kimberly Hedrick, 55, was driving southbound in a Chevrolet Tahoe when she allegedly crossed the centerline in a curve and collided head-on with a northbound Chevrolet Aveo driven by Benita Vickers, 55, of Corbin. The impact critically injured Vickers, who was transported to Baptist Healthcare Hospital by Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County and was pronounced deceased shortly afterward by Whitley County Coroner Andy Croley. A male passenger in Vickers' vehicle was also injured and taken to Baptist Regional Medical Center (BRMC).

After striking the Aveo, Hedrick’s vehicle collided with a Hyundai SUV driven by David Wynn, 39, of Corbin. The Tahoe then went airborne before coming to rest on a guardrail. The Aveo and Hyundai ended up blocking the roadway.

Wynn reportedly fled the scene before deputies arrived, and investigators are actively searching for him. Wynn is also wanted on an outstanding warrant. Two female passengers in Wynn's vehicle were taken to BRMC for possible treatment.

Hedrick, who sustained minor injuries, was transported to St. Joseph Hospital London. Investigators reported detecting alcohol on Hedrick’s breath, along with slurred speech. Hedrick has been charged with vehicular homicide under the influence of alcohol and lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

The Laurel County Sheriff's Office requests anyone with information about David Wynn’s whereabouts to call 606-864-6600, send a personal message to their Facebook page, or email g.acciardo@laurelcountysheriff.gov. All information received will be kept confidential.
