The Kentucky Historical Society (KHS) celebrated the outstanding contributions of 20 individuals and organizations from across the commonwealth at the annual Kentucky History Awards Celebration on Saturday, June 7 in Frankfort. Volunteer Organization of the Year was awarded to the Clay County Historical Society in recognition of the projects and programs presented during their 40th year anniversary celebration in 2024. This is the historical society’s fourth award from KHS since 2013.
This year’s honorees represented a wide array of achievements in the field of history, with award categories spanning education, publication, and public service. “These awards reflect the incredible work being done in every corner of Kentucky to preserve and share our rich and complex history,” said KHS Executive Director Scott Alvey. “We are proud to recognize these exceptional individuals and organizations for their commitment to historical scholarship and community engagement.”
“We are extremely honored to receive the Kentucky Historical Society’s Volunteer Organization of the year award for 2025,” said Michael White, president. “This type of recognition reflects the tremendous amount of dedication and work performed by our volunteers. Thank you to our members, community partners, and everyone who helped to make this possible. We are proud of the work we do here and excited to be named as one of Kentucky’s best!”
A healthy Clay County requires great community news.
