Respond with Grace, Not Rage

by Editorial by The Manchester Enterprise

As the scheduled protest by Ky. Resist approaches this Friday in Manchester, it’s important for our community to take a collective breath and remain calm. We understand that many residents are frustrated, angry, and even hurt by the views this group represents. But how we choose to respond will define us far more than what they say or do.

Clay County is a place rooted in faith, family, and traditional values. Those principles should guide us now more than ever. If you feel led to stand in opposition, do so peacefully and with a Christ-like heart. Shouting insults, stirring conflict, or returning hate with more hate does nothing to advance truth—it only deepens the divide.

Jesus didn’t run from confrontation, but He never let anger control Him. He spoke with authority, yet His words were filled with compassion. He stood against sin, but never failed to love the sinner. That’s the example we’re called to follow.

We encourage our churches, community leaders, and individuals to respond not with rage, but with prayer. Let our opposition be rooted in conviction, not contempt. Let our presence speak volumes—not in volume, but in virtue.

This protest will come and go. But the example we set will last far longer. Let it be one of love, strength, and unwavering faith.

Jesus didn’t approve of every action, but He embraced every soul with open arms. If we claim to follow Him, then we must do the same—even when we disagree. Let our actions this Friday reflect not just our values, but His.
