84-Year-Old London Man Busted for DUI After Swerving Drive on KY 192
June 19, 2025

LONDON, Ky. — Age might come with wisdom, but apparently not with a designated driver.
Laurel County Sheriff's Deputy Zach Allen and Detective Sgt. Taylor McDaniel arrested 84-year-old Arthur Miniard of London on Wednesday evening, June 18, after what deputies described as a less-than-straightforward trip down KY 192 — literally.
It was around 6:40 p.m. when officers spotted Miniard’s red Chevrolet Colorado doing its own interpretive dance across the lane lines. A quick traffic stop revealed a few telltale signs: a strong smell of what we’ll politely call “liquid courage,” and some very glossy, “I’m-not-fooling-anyone” eyes.
Deputies launched a roadside investigation that ended with one clear conclusion: Mr. Miniard wasn’t just out for a leisurely evening drive — he was allegedly under the influence.
Miniard is facing a second-offense DUI charge and was promptly chauffeured — this time in the back of a cruiser — to the Laurel County Correctional Center.
A healthy Clay County requires great community news.
