Little, Big Town

First off, this article is not about that band. I just found it suitable—the title. I feel like our little town has some big things going on. Last night, my husband, brother, and I attended Clay County Days. I was very impressed. We watched Aaron Tippin perform, and he put on a fantastic concert. Free of charge to our community. I mean, someone had to pay for him to be there, but there was no charge for those attending. I think that is awesome, too. We also ate some mighty good food while we were there.
A lot is going on in our little town. From upcoming car races to the continued renovation of downtown Manchester. I always have to brag about my little village of Oneida because several people care about hosting festivities for us as well. We aren’t left out anymore, and I’m glad. We are a pretty long drive from Manchester, and not that we don’t go there often. But it’s nice to have things going on right here at home. I don’t believe that Manchester will ever be a huge city. But I think that there are people who are trying to get some things here to put us on the map. And have been for some time now. I appreciate it. I’ll always complain that we need more restaurants. However, I suppose we are fortunate to have the ones we do have.
My best friend Teresa’s daughter, Tayla Bowling, graduated from high school this year. Ummm, she was valedictorian. To say that we are all so very proud of her is an understatement. She is an outstanding young lady, to put it mildly. There are many graduates with considerable potential. I look forward to seeing what their futures hold. We have some good kids here, and I believe we are among the most talented and deserving of any around. So, to all the graduates —congratulations! I hope your first week of June is sunny and bright! I see very little rain in the forecast, which is unusual. Little things make Big things happen.
A healthy Clay County requires great community news.
